The Ocean
Institute’s Weather & Water 5th Grade
Program was developed in 2005 and implemented
in over 100 classes in 16 school districts across Orange County
during the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 school years. The Weather & Water Train-the-Trainer Program has been designed to allow for organized, efficient, and cost-effective dissemination of the Weather & Water curriculum throughout California.
Train-the-Trainer
Requirements:
- Trainers
must attend a minimum of one Weather & Water Teacher Professional Development Workshop.
- Trainers
must attend an additional six-hour Train-the-Trainer
workshop.
- Trainers
must provide the Ocean
Institute with
data on workshop attendees.
Certified
Trainers Can:
- Use Ocean
Institute-developed
Teacher Professional Development materials to conduct trainings
for 5th grade teachers.
- Copy
and disseminate any Weather & Water
curriculum document to attending teachers only.
- Copy
and disseminate Weather & Water Science Kit content list
and ordering information to attending teachers only.
- Add
attending teachers to the Weather & Water listserv,
which will make them a part of the Weather & Water community
of teachers and entitle them to updates, peer exchanges,
and periodic content workshops at the Ocean
Institute.
- Provide
access information and updates for the Weather & Water technology strand.
