National Office for Integrated and Sustained Ocean Observations: Ocean.US - Ocean.US was created by the National Oceanographic Partnership Program to coordinate the development of an operational and integrated and sustained ocean observing system.

A National Federation of Regional Associations (NFRA) coordinates the development of regional observing systems, represents the interests of RAs at the federal level, and provides a mechanism for federal guidance on the development of regional observing systems as part of the IOOS as a whole.

The SCCOOS Representatives to NFRA are: John Orcutt Deputy Director of Scripps Institution of Oceanography and SCCOOS chair and Marco Gonzalez, Esq. of the Coastal Law Group.

In 2004, more than 50 nations formally adopted a ten-year implementation plan for a Global Earth Observation System. This Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS) will help all nations involved produce and manage their information in a way that benefits the environment as well as humanity.
